Johannes J. Christian
A violent crime destroyed his sight and almost claimed his life in 2001: A boulder, thrown by a young man off an overpass, struck Dr. Christian as he drove underneath. The rock crushed the front of Dr. Christian’s skull. At the age of 50, Dr. Christian was now, suddenly, totally blind.
Through his paintings, created some 20 years after the crime that took his sense of sight, Dr. Christian provides us with a rich, compelling and evocative glimpse into the world of a man who refuses to bow to the whims of fate, and who – in his own unique way – still sees the world around him.
